Carl Cowling has been at WH Smith for eight years, with the last three years as Chief Executive. In that time, apart from navigating the business through Covid, he has overseen the successful expansion into North America as well as the launch of new formats such as InMotion Tech stores across Europe.

Prior to WH Smith, Carl spent his career in the electricals retail industry in a variety of roles, predominantly at Currys.
